By increasing caspase-3, caspase-9, and poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase 1 (PARP-1), EGCG downregulated the expression of miR-25, which reduced the cell growth and proliferation rate, resulting in G2/M phase arrest and, ultimately, increased cell apoptosis in several breast cancer cell lines [41].
