In view of the observations that mesenchymal non‐small cell lung carcinoma cancers are likely to be resistant to epidermal growth factor receptor and PI3 K/AKT inhibitors,49 and that the EMT/CSC phenotype could cause mTORC1 inhibitor resistance,50 it is possible that DNMT1 haploinsufficiency in cells is associated with resistance to mTOR pathway inhibition. The gene discussed is MTOR; the disease is cancer.
