In an early work, monocyte chemotactic protein 1 (MCP-1) was reported to promote macrophage activation, proinflammatory response, and hepatic steatosis.15 Herein, we found that WIP treatment effectively reduced the MCP-1 expression in the liver of mice receiving chronic ethanol consumption by an immune histological detection (Figure 1k). The gene discussed is CCL2; the disease is fatty liver disease.
