FOXM1 and non-small cell lung carcinoma: Aberrant expression of miR-149 is found in non-small cell lung cancer cells and is associated with invasive properties of lung cancer cells and increased epithelial-mesenchymal transition as reported by the study of Ke et al. (25) The researchers demonstrate that miR-149 could inhibit the expression of FOXM1 and reduce the FOXM1 protein level and inhibit the EMT process in non-small cell lung cancer by miR-149 overexpression and knockout of FOXM1 gene.
