Interestingly, both TARDBP and ATXN2 are implicated in neurological disorders such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) (Sreedharan et al., 2008; Elden et al., 2010; Prasad et al., 2019; Yang et al., 2019); in addition, Ataxin-2 has been implicated in microRNA regulation (McCann et al., 2011; Ostrowski et al., 2017).
