NLRP3 and proteostasis deficiencies: Based on the preceding discussion and the importance of the NLRP3 inflammasome in the pathogenesis of gout and neuroinflammation occurring in protein misfolding diseases, such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, among others, in this review, we have sketched a current scenario of diterpenes or their derivatives acting through NLRPs, especially NLRP3-associated pathways with anti-inflammatory effects.
