AP2M1 and cancer: Furthermore, pharmacological inhibition of clathrin-mediated endocytosis using hypertonic sucrose, CPZ and pitstop 2, as well as siRNA-mediated silencing of AP2M1, a key regulator of clathrin-mediated endocytosis, confirmed the heavy dependence of H-1PV on this pathway for successful entry into both HeLa and NCH125 cancer cells (Figure 3).
