In our preclinical work on pediatric cancers (e.g., high-grade glioma cell lines [25] and unpublished data on pediatric patient-derived osteosarcoma cell lines), targeting the central node mTor/HIF-1α with rapamycin and irinotecan was resulting in anti-proliferative effects, as well as a metabolic impact on tumor cells.
