Dozens of studies have shown that women with preeclampsia have high levels of circulating antiangiogenic proteins such as the soluble fms-like tyrosine kinase-1 (sFlt1), soluble endoglin (sEnd) and low levels of angiogenic proteins as the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and placental growth factor (PlGF) [12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18].
