VEGFD and neoplasm: Considering that VEGF-D not only favors lymphangiogenesis [30] but also the metastatic process [30], and that VEGFs seem to be involved as leukocyte chemoattractants [44–46], VEGF-D constitutively expressed by the HEK-EBNA293-VEGF-D cells might have played a role favoring both the TCi metastatic process and the tumor leukocyte infiltrates in our study.
