VEGFA and neoplasm: Neo-vascularization is a critical event mediated by several angiogenic factors—including the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), fibroblast growth factors (FGFs), matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs)—and inflammatory factors such as Cyclooxygenase (COX)-2 and NF-kB, occurring not only in tumor progression but also in early placentation [76,77].
