IFNG and infection: In the caecal tonsil of S. Enteritidis-infected chickens, an inflammatory profile was evident throughout the infection period with significantly increased expression of IFN-γ mRNA at days 2, 4, and 5 pi, IL-12 (day 2), IL-18 (day 4) and IL-17F (days 4 and 5) compared to uninfected controls (Figure 10A).
