Interestingly, similar ADF/Cofilin-actin rods have been found together with amyloid deposits and neurofibrillary tangles in brains from Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) patients as well as in abnormal actin aggregates termed Hirano bodies, which have been reported for AD and Parkinson’s disease (Minamide et al., 2000; Heredia et al., 2006; Gallo, 2007).
