Apart from its function in lipoprotein metabolism, no other in vivo function has been reported for CAP1 to date, underlying the exigency of a conditional mouse model, which would also allow to test whether or not CAP1 is relevant for cytokine signaling, inflammation, adipose biology, coronary artery disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or renal disease as suggested by recent studies (Lee et al., 2014; Xie et al., 2014; Munjas et al., 2017; Munjas et al., 2020). This evidence concerns the gene CAP1 and kidney disorder.
