Although immunoblots with pan-phospho-Ser and pan-phospho-Thr antibodies failed to detect any phospho-KIF1A immunoreactivity (Extended Data Fig. 1-1), we detected nine phosphopeptides in KIF1A (UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot: Q6TA13), four of which conform to sequences targeted by kinases that are aberrantly activated in AD including mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK), casein kinase II (CK2), and GSK3β (Fig. 2B,C; Extended Data Fig. 2-1; Maqbool et al., 2016; Cline et al., 2018). The gene discussed is WNK2; the disease is Alzheimer disease.
