Similar discrepancies were found in several mouse models of hepatic steatosis available in our laboratory (see histological characterization of ob/ob, db/db and liver-specific phosphatase and tensin homologue (Pten) knockout (LPTENKO) mice in Figure S3), as miR-22-3p is significantly induced in the liver of ob/ob mice, while unchanged in db/db mice and downregulated in mice having steatosis following deletion of Pten specifically in hepatocytes (LPTENKO mice) (Figure 1G). This evidence concerns the gene PTEN and fatty liver disease.
