TNF and Sepsis: The results of ELISA confirmed that the levels of cytokines such as TNF-α, IL-1α, IL-10, IL-6, HMGB1, and sCD14 in septic rats increased significantly, indicating that the intrinsic immunity and adaptive immunity were activated; proinflammation and anti-inflammation coexisted in the early stage of sepsis [25]; CD4+CD25+Treg and TH17 simultaneously increased, and the ratio of Treg/TH17 decreased also confirmed that immune activation and suppression were accompanied by each other, but immune activation dominated at the early stage of sepsis.
