In quantitative real-time reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) analysis, we found that the upregulation of Ccl2 (encoding C-C chemokine motif ligand 2 (Ccl2)) and Opn (encoding osteopontin) in DSH rats was significantly ameliorated in DSH+2.5%SF rats (29% decrease for Ccl2; P = 0.0037, and 62% decrease for Opn, P = 0.041; Fig. 2g). The gene discussed is CCL2; the disease is dyschromatosis symmetrica hereditaria.
