At 72 h after infection, the relative luciferase activity of the infected NIH3T3 VP30/HER2 cells increased by 12-fold, whereas the activity of the infected control NIH3T3 VP30 cells and the NIH3T3 VP30/EGFR cells increased by only 3-fold and 6-fold, respectively (Fig 4B), suggesting that HER2 has a greater ability to enhance EBOV entry than does EGFR.
