Studies have shown that pancreatic sensory neurons regulate islet inflammation in the nonobese diabetic (NOD) mouse through the release of transient receptor potential cation channel subfamily V member 1 (TRPV1) (2), and in streptozotocin-treated mice, pharmacological inhibition of adrenergic α1 receptors prevents hyperglycemia (3). This evidence concerns the gene TRPV1 and Hyperglycemia.
