HPV oncoproteins and nonviral tumor antigens have been identified as targets for immunotherapy.9,10 In squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), a predominant histologic subtype accounting for approximately 80% of cervical cancer, programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) expression varies from 51% to 88%.11,12 These findings provide a rationale supporting the development of immunotherapy in cervical cancer.
