In an ischemia reperfusion-induced gastric ulcer model, pretreatment with 50 mg/kg (+)-catechins increased CAT and SOD activities (from 15.5 ± 1.3 to 32.4 ± 1.8 U, from 87.6 ± 12.4 to 145.0 ± 7.5 U, respectively) and reduced the level of malondialdehyde (MDA), an end-product of lipid peroxidation in peptic ulcer, from 0.48 ± 0.02 to 0.30 ± 0.01 nmol [41].
