ACTA1 and neuroblastoma: The presence of CAFs in NB tumors was first recognized by S. L. Cohn’s group, who reported the presence of α-SMA-positive non-pericytic cells in NB tumors and reported that the presence of these cells was associated with an increase in microvascular proliferation, a decrease in the presence of SCs, and with an overall poorer clinical outcome [5], an observation suggesting that CAFs could contribute to a TME favorable to NB cell growth.
