SMPD3 and glioma: We validated this sphingolipidomic profile using gene expression and Western blot analyses, which suggested that overexpression of key enzymes, SMPD3, SGPL, ASAH2 (ceramidase/sphingosine synthase) and S1P phosphatase (SGPP2) that tilt sphingolipid rheostat toward increased ceramide and decreased S1P are associated with IDHmut gliomas, while not within IDHWT.
