When we generated plot diagrams of the mean tumor size (Figure 1a) and number of LNMs (Figure 1b) against each calcitonin group, we noticed a sharp increase in tumor size when the calcitonin level exceeded 200.1 pg/mL (the lowest limit for the 4th group), and a sharp increase in the number of LNMs when the calcitonin level exceeded 1000.1 pg/mL (the lowest limit for the sixth group).
