These results demonstrate that CD44 and OPN regulation by inflammatory cytokines TNF-α and IFN-γ is mediated by the recruitment of NF-κB and STAT1 transcription factors to the promoters of these genes, and is likely to occur in the endometrial tissue of PCOS patients where the levels of these two cytokines increase. This evidence concerns the gene NFKB1 and polycystic ovary syndrome.
