These results demonstrate that CD44 and OPN regulation by inflammatory cytokines TNF-α and IFN-γ is mediated by the recruitment of NF-κB and STAT1 transcription factors to the promoters of these genes, and is likely to occur in the endometrial tissue of PCOS patients where the levels of these two cytokines increase. The gene discussed is TNF; the disease is polycystic ovary syndrome.
