ADAM10 and colorectal carcinoma: Park and Kim (2017) have reported that TLR4-initiated signaling activates the expression of ADAM10 and ADAM17 to promote glycolysis and lactate production fueling the malignant proliferation of CRC cells. Mustafi et al. (2017) have demonstrated that ADAM17 contributes to colorectal carcinogenesis by cleaving and thus releasing the pro-EGFR ligands. Histological examination of CRC biopsy specimens and profiling of blood samples collected from CRC patients both indicate that ADAM expression levels are altered during CRC pathogenesis (Duffy et al., 2009).
