In support of our data, CXCL10 hyperexpression in DiViD cases was also previously observed at the mRNA level, being its expression significantly increased in laser-captured microdissected islets of T1D donors compared to non-diabetic controls (42); of note, CXCL10 hyperexpression was reported to be significantly associated to peri-islet insulitis microdissected tissue rather than to pancreatic islets core. Here, CXCL10 is linked to type 1 diabetes mellitus.
