Study on prostate cancer cells showed that the level of LC3-II was increased in PC 3 and DU 145 cells after treated with DHA, when PC 3 and DU 145 cells were exposed to high concentrations of DHA, phosphorylation levels of Akt and mTOR decreased, but total Akt and mTOR levels showed no significant changes, it means that inhibition of Akt-mTOR pathway activates autophagy induce by DHA.(9) Our results are consistent with relevant reports, LA/DHA could increase the level of LC3B protein and decrease P62 protein, and strengthen autophagy flux. This evidence concerns the gene AKT1 and prostate cancer.
