It is interesting to note that of all monogenic retinal dystrophies, the highest prevalence of FCE is seen in association with variants in BEST1. In addition to the retinopathy, it is also important to remember that abnormal iridocorneal anatomic features, shallow anterior chamber depth, and reduced axial length all predispose patients to an increased prevalence of angle-closure glaucoma in those with ARB, another factor that may complicate both the delivery and response to novel therapies delivered into the vitreous or subretinal space. Here, BEST1 is linked to inherited retinal dystrophy.
