INS and Hyperkalemia: Intraoperative complications in the primary group included 2 positive gastrojejunal anastomosis air leak tests (managed with interrupted sutures), 1 misfired stapler load on the gastric remnant (managed by a running suture), 1 liver bleed (managed with electrocautery and hemostatic agents), 1 mesenteric bleed (managed by conversion to laparotomy and vessel ligation) and 1 patient who developed hyperkalemia with T-waves during general anesthesia (managed by insulin and calcium gluconate injections).
