GO bioinformatic analysis results on 1613 genes recognized by DAVID 6.8 algorithm (Supplementary File S2) highlighted that 54 validated target genes of miR-199a-3p, miR-200b-3p and miR-365-3p are significantly involved in 8 pathways that could be potentially implied in the pathogenesis of diabetic macular edema (Table 3), including VEGFA signaling pathway (n = 19 genes/1613, Fold enrichment = 2.4, Fisher’s exact test corrected p value = 0.00021). The gene discussed is VEGFA; the disease is diabetic macular edema.
