The upregulation of IL-1β, IL-6, and TNFα was also observed under chronic intermittent hypoxia (CIH) conditions [66,71,72,73], while IL-6 expression resulted to be stimulated also by intermittent hypoxia/reoxygenation (IH/ROX) treatment, which simulates the pattern of hypoxic episodes seen in obstructive sleep apnea [75]. This evidence concerns the gene IL6 and obstructive sleep apnea syndrome.
