They include, e.g., Kirsten rat sarcoma viral oncogene (KRAS; more than 50% of CRC patients carry a mutant allele) [13,16], BRAF (a mutant KRAS gene, which encodes protein B-Raf, found in only 30–40% of the 90% of patients not affected by anti-EGFR therapy) [14,16], and COX-2 (Cyclooxygenase-2; the expression exhibited in 70% of CRC tumors) [12]. This evidence concerns the gene KRAS and colorectal carcinoma.
