During activation, IκB is phosphorylated and, thus, disassociates from NF-κB. In our study, AST did not decrease the pIκB/IκB ratio in retinas because NF-κB activation was not shown in RGCs of Glast± mice with chronic progressive retinal degeneration, unlike other acute retinal injury models. The gene discussed is NFKB1; the disease is retinal degeneration.
