Three hours after the experimental induction of focal ischemic stroke, we found that: (1) albumin solutions require a lower volume compared to Saline to achieve the same hemodynamic target; (2) 5% ALB and 20% ALB, compared to Saline, reduced the expression of genes associated with neurodegeneration, brain inflammation, and damage to the blood-brain barrier; and (3) 20% ALB resulted in greater kidney damage compared to 5% ALB and Saline. The gene discussed is ALB; the disease is Nephropathy.
