AHR and asthma: Growing evidence suggest that both airway inflammation and remodeling trigger increased ROS and NO production in asthma (Thomassen et al., 1999; Mahut et al., 2004; Silveira et al., 2019), and conversely, inhibition of excessive ROS and RNS level alleviates airway inflammation, goblet cells hyperplasia, collagen production, and AHR induced by OVA (Jaffer et al., 2015; Sebag et al., 2017).
