Aβo selectively bind the postsynaptic component of excitatory synapses (Lacor et al., 2007; Renner et al., 2010; Cline et al., 2018), and exposure of wild-type neurons in culture to Aβo is sufficient to trigger in vitro “phenocopies” of AD spines pathology.
