IL4 and Alzheimer disease: In an Alzheimer’s diseases (AD) mouse model, IL-4 did induce a robust M2a phenotype (Latta et al., 2015), and rather induced autophagy vacuole formation and microglial autophagy flux generation, increased uptake and degradation of Amyloid-β (Aβ), inhibited the Aβ deposition induced autophagy flux blockade, and returned autophagy flux to a normal level (Tang et al., 2019).
