Spastin RNAi has been ineffective in our hands, and neither antibodies nor promoter-GAL4 lines have convincingly revealed its endogenous expression pattern in Drosophila. However, Spastin expression has been shown via Western blots in normal human primary cerebellar astrocytes, glioblastoma cells, and rodent reactive astrocytes, consistent with possible roles in non-neuronal cell types and specifically glia (Ma et al., 2006; Draberova et al., 2011; Havlicek et al., 2014). This evidence concerns the gene SPAST and glioblastoma.
