Consistently, Pearson’s correlation analysis revealed a strong inverse correlation of survivin with cytochrome C-positive tubular cells in simvastatin 20 and 40 groups (R2 = 0.69 and R2 = 0.85, p < 0.01, respectively) (Figure 10), suggesting that simvastatin protects tubular cells in LPS-induced AKI by inhibiting key apoptotic proteins of the intrinsic pathway and activates cell-survival mechanisms. Here, BIRC5 is linked to acute kidney injury.
