The master regulators can cause downregulation of four DEGs belonging to the apoptotic signature, namely CLU, SFRP1, GPX3 and GSTM1 (Fig. 4A), activate the expression of one proliferation marker, CCNB1 and downregulate another, IGF1 (Fig. 4B), and activate eleven genes that contribute to inflammation including IL6, a major inflammatory cytokine in RA (Fig. 4C). The gene discussed is CLU; the disease is rheumatoid arthritis.
