Kempers et al., analyzing 194 carriers with EPCAM 3′-end deletions, reported endometrial carcinomas with a life risk of 12% (0–27) lower than obtained in MSH2 and MSH6 mutation carries (51% (33–69) and 34% (20–48), respectively), although ascertainment bias led to an overestimation of cancer risk in all the groups [16].
