Since VIP shows neuroprotective properties [15,16,17,18,19,20], controls the immune reactions [41] and plays a key role during inflammatory processes [25,26,27,28,29,30,31,32,33,34,35,36,37,38,39,40,41,42,43,44,45,46,47,48], the possibility of the use of VIP analogs as drugs during intestinal inflammations has been tested in recent years. Here, VIP is linked to inflammation.
