AFP and hepatocellular carcinoma: Through multivariate Cox proportional-hazard regression analysis, CYFRA 21-1 > 2.7 ng/mL (hazard ratio (HR) = 3.39, 95% CI 1.76–6.52, p < 0.001), AFP > 20 ng/mL (HR = 2.27, 95% CI 1.25–4.13, p = 0.007), and PIVKA-II > 200 mAU/mL (HR = 2.17, 95% CI 1.13–4.17, p = 0.020) results were significant and independent predictors of OS, irrespective of liver function (Child-Pugh Score), AST values, the BCLC stage of HCC, and the radiological response to treatment (Table 2).
