Information on IL-10 levels reported in the literature are still conflicting: whereas Andrukhov, et al.40(2011) reported that serum IL-10, TNF-α, and IFN-α levels were higher in individuals with periodontitis than in healthy individuals, Teles, et al.41(2009) reported that saliva IL-10 levels were lower in periodontitis patients than in healthy individuals and salivary IL-1β levels were higher in periodontitis patients than in healthy individuals. Here, IL10 is linked to periodontitis.
