Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), immunoglobulin E (IgE), thymus and activation-regulated chemokine (TARC), eosinophil number, and eosinophilic cationic protein (ECP) mediate allergic inflammation, and are produced in the serum of patients with allergic diseases, besides interleukin (IL)-4 and IL-13, the signature type 2 cytokines.
