For this purpose, serotonin and thromboxane A2 (TXA2) plasma levels were assessed as markers of platelet activation [7,10], von Willebrand antigen (VWF:Ag) and activity (VWF:Ac) as markers of endothelial dysfunction [11] and soluble p-selectin as a marker of both platelet activation and endothelial injury [11]. The gene discussed is VWF; the disease is endothelial dysfunction.
