Spontaneous alternation is also used to measure anxiety or locomotor activity; however, the number of entries to each arm was not different (Fig. 4c; Mecp2: 27.44 ± 2.36 entries, WT: 29 ± 1.52 entries, unpaired t test, p = 0.59), suggesting that locomotor activity or anxiety did not drive any spontaneous alternation behavior.
