Although the correlation levels did not achieve statistical significance, perhaps because of the relatively small sample size, we observed a trend toward negative correlation in adenocarcinoma in each data set (Pearson correlation, dataset 1 = −0.264, dataset 2 = −0.3196) (Figure 4A,C), while we observed weak positive correlations between SLFN12 and MYC in squamous cell carcinoma in both data sets (Pearson correlation, data set 1 = 0.19668, data set 2 = 0.050284) (Figure 4B,D). The gene discussed is MYC; the disease is adenocarcinoma.
