SPAG5 and cancer: It was found that overexpressed Astrin improved the stability of β-catenin by inhibiting the ubiquitination of β-catenin through ubiquitin proteasome system, which induces expression of scavenger receptor class A member 5 (SCARA5), a new member of the scavenger receptor family, and activates its role in suppressing disease progression and metastasis in cancer (Armengol et al., 2013; Liu H. et al., 2018).
